soundtrack: Spitfires and Mayflowers -- Pirates

I finished my remix last night. I hope that it turns out all right -- I've never written a remix before and I'm not sure if I changed the right amount, or gave it a good name, etc, etc, etc.

Anyway, I'm really excited to see whatever my remixer did! Watch for updates this weekend!

(Also, my thesis rough draft is due Monday at 5:30. Neeeeeep.)

All right, lj is being kind of obnoxious, and, let's face it, back in the day when I first started this lj I wasn't terribly sure how to format fanfic or even how to format the damn lj itself. Today I went back and tried to tag things, and found that when I got back to the very first stories that I ever posted, they html was completely messed up and the tagger wouldn't work. Rather than go back and fix all that html (cause I am lazy), I decided to just post links to those stories on Fictionalley.

All stories are Remus/Sirius.

Also, I just signed up for my very first remix! Go to remixredux and sign up too!

Snowstorm -- My first ever fanfic. In retrospect, it's really fluffy and kind of grossly cute, but hey, it would be revisionist history not to include it. Set during the Hogwarts years.

Losing the Map -- My second ever fanfic. Also just a bit too cute for its own good. I was intrigued by how Filch came to have the Marauder's Map in his possession so that Fred and George could get it. Naturally, the first explanation that popped into my mind involved Remus and Sirius doing something disgustingly cute when they were Hogwarts students.

Promises Unbroken -- After spending a winter watching my relationship of three years completely fall apart, I emerged, single and stronger, to write ANGST. Today writing angsty fanfic is probably my chief joy in life (ok, climbing mountains is probably better... but just!), but there was a time when it was all shiny and new. This was that time. It takes place immediately after PoA, and is still one of my favorite things that I've ever written. (It also inspired lazy_neutrino to write The Hollow Men, one of my favorite, favorite fanfics ever.

The Long Road Home -- Where to start with this one? It was written for the Remus/Sirius FQF #2, "Bring Back Black," in response to the challenge, "Sirius returns but something crucial has changed and he has to fix it." What I changed was... history. This is the story where the history nerd in me really, really came out. Sirius falls through the veil and winds up in an alternate universe where Germany invaded Britain during WWII and Remus isn't a werewolf.

Keeping Secrets -- This is the best thing, in fandom, that I have ever written. I don't want to be egotistical, but I am really proud of this fic. It takes place during October of 1981, and is told from Remus's POV -- basically, this is my response to how, in canon, Remus and Sirius could come to mistrust each other so completely.

Secrets Kept -- The companion piece to "Keeping Secrets". This one is from Sirius's POV.

Ok, now to go write an essay for class... I wonder if carpal tunnel is going to fatal to me one day.

soundtrack: John Denver - I'd Rather Be a Cowboy (Lady'

I made a sincere attempt to write something for every day of blanketforts, but I am now EIGHT days behind and realize that I am not going to make it.

What I have so far:

1 Remus has a hangover aboard a tube car on New Year's Day.
2 My second favorite. Smut/angst, pre-Azkaban.
3 Remus and Sirius climb a mountain. With a picture from Colorado!
4 Pre-slash. On the first full moon that Sirius is able to transform, he tries to make it to Remus.
5 A completely ridiculous story about a day-long snowball fight/flirting session. Rated TCTH for "too cute to handle".
6 A surreal, dreamy look at a battle, pre-Azkaban.
7 My favorite so far. As copperbadge recently said, some people write fanfiction to address how they feel about canon. I am one of those people. This is about Remus being sent off to live among the werewolves for the Order.
8 Zombie Inferi!fic, pure and simple. Written with megl42 in mind.

There will be more, but I cannot do this every day, especially because I am starting school again on Tuesday! (Actually, come to think of it, that probably means I will be MORE diligent about writing.)

Speaking of, school starts on Tuesday, and I'm going to London to do thesis research on February 1 (thank you history department grant). My best friend is coming to DC to visit me at school/have a med school interview next weekend. I will be (hopefully) graduating this May. Ok, enough of real life, back to the fandom!

soundtrack: Belle and Sebastian -- The Fox in the Snow

I completely forgot that I wrote this for inell's femmeslash challenge.

Title: The Summer of Fifteen, Almost Sixteen
Rated: PG -13, I guess. For some minor language, suggestion of things probably inappropriate to younger readers.
Pairing: Hermione/Tonks, with hints of a few other ships in there
Word Count: 2297
Disclaimer: All of the characters belong to JKR, not me, obviously, or else I wouldn't be starving my way through college.
Author's Note: I wrote this for the Girls Just Want to Have Fun Challenge.

Finally, something that isn't seasonal! This is for sirius_loving.

Title: The Portrait of Stella Black/The Favourite Son
Author: me, theenginedriver, aka, jedibix783
Rating: PG-13 or thereabouts
Warnings: One batsh*t insane character, death, child abuse
Characters: Sirius, Regulus, and parents
Summary/Challenge: Sirius's mother takes her son with her to have her portrait painted. The challenge was #21, Sirius's childhood before he came to Hogwarts.
Author's Notes: This is one of the darkest pieces I've ever written. Many thanks to JK Rowling and Oscar Wilde, with a side of Edgar Allen Poe. I heart feedback!!!
